"Walkway Collapse at Stahlman Park in Texas Injures 21, Including Teenagers"



A walkway collapse at Stahlman Park in Surfside Beach, Texas, has left 21 people injured, according to officials. The incident occurred around 1 pm (local time) at the seaside recreation area, which offers beach access and views of the Gulf of Mexico. Five teenagers were airlifted to a hospital, while 16 others sustained injuries when a section of an elevated walkway collapsed. Thankfully, none of the injuries were life-threatening, as confirmed by city officials.


The teenagers, ranging in age from 14 to 18, were visiting from Cypress, Tomball, and Spring Branch, which are located outside Houston and San Antonio. They were part of a summer camp organized by the Bayou City Fellowship, as stated in a news release by city officials.


Surfside Beach, a coastal community situated approximately 60 miles south of Houston, was the site of the unfortunate incident. The cause of the collapse is still under investigation, according to city officials. The injured teenagers were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston via airlift, while six others were taken to local hospitals by ambulance. Approximately 10 additional individuals sought medical attention in private vehicles.
