To apply online, you can visit either the Protean portal (formerly NSDL eGov) or the UTITSL portal. The Protean portal can be accessed at https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/index.html, while the UTITSL portal is available at https://www.pan.utiitsl.com/PAN/. Please note that there are charges associated with applying for a PAN. The fee is Rs. 93 (excluding Goods and Services tax) for Indian communication addresses and Rs. 864 (excluding Goods and Services tax) for foreign communication addresses.

You can make the payment for the application fee using various methods such as credit/debit card, demand draft, or net banking. Once your application and payment are accepted, you will be required to send the supporting documents to Protean (formerly NSDL eGov) or UTITSL through courier or post. The PAN application will only be processed after the receipt of the documents by Protean (formerly NSDL eGov) or UTITSL.

For new PAN applications, if you are an individual or a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) applicant and you select the office address as the address for communication, you will need to submit proof of both the office address and the residential address to Protean (formerly NSDL eGov) starting from applications made on or after 1st November 2009.

According to RBI guidelines, entities conducting e-commerce transactions are required to provide a Personal Identification Number (PIN) during online transactions. Therefore, before making payment for online PAN/TAN applications using a credit card, debit card, or net banking, you must obtain the PIN from the respective bank that issued your credit card/debit card/net banking facility.

By following these steps and guidelines, you can easily apply for a PAN, make changes or corrections, or request a reprint of your PAN card, all from the comfort of your own home through the internet.
